Checking Your Partner's Credit Could Save Your Relationship From Destruction in the Future

You may have checked out your partner up and down but have you looked at their credit score?  Also, have you looked at what they owe in debt?  It could save you time, money, and a destructive relationship or marriage in the future.  More than 60% of marriages end in divorce because of money matters.  A good way to avoid getting into a destructive marriage is to check everything out about your partner besides how they look.

First, you should find out what your partners credit score is.  When you get to the point in your relationship where you feel comfortable enough to ask, please do.This is very important because if your partnership ends up being married to you, their credit score will be tied to yours over night.  A credit score is a good indicator of their financial intelligence.  If they spend way more than they can afford do you really want to be tied to this person for the rest of your life?

Second, you need to find out the total of their debt.  The credit score of your partner may not reflect how much total debt they have.  Most people think of debt as credit cards, they are wrong.  You need to look at all aspects of debt.  Not only do you need to add credit card debt but also student loans.  A major factor in their debt is their earning power over the following 10-15 years.  If they will not be able to pay off their own debt within 10-15 years you should really think about whether the relationship is worth the trouble.  Their accruing debt in their personal life could be a sign of what they will put onto your relationship with this person.

I feel if you take these 2 steps you can avoid a destructive relationship and a possible destructive marriage in the future.  Just as you know your credit is your key to life in this society, others may not.  Don't put yourself in a situation where you get so far into a relationship or marriage that you make yourself miserable for the rest of your life.  You are better and smarter than that.  Use these tips to make smart decisions.  You would not buy a car without researching so why would you not do the same with a life partner?

This could save you trouble in the future.  When you apply for credit cards.  When you apply for a mortgage on your first house?  Do you really want to be surprised, or do you want to know everything before hand?  Don't be a fool for so called love and ruin your life with somebody that is not serious about their own.
